Friday morning, I walked past a colleague’s desk and–I swear–saw a basketball game on her personal screen. When I got closer, however, all I could see were a bunch of very official-looking bars and charts.

I'm not sure whether you know what's Y-Browser, but you should know it's arguably the ideal file manager for Symbian S60 devices. The new version is out now, remains free, and bring several improvements, including:Y-Browser 0.88

  • Layout is changed, Settings Menu Revamped
  • File modified time changed from UTC to local time
  • Added Command short cut accelerators to the menu items
  • Edit-Mark, menu has now two additional options: Mark with wild card & inverse selection
  • File association settings added
  • Plug-in manager added
  • Email folders shown now as well (with Mail folders plug-in)

In addition, known bugs are fixed and the overall stability is improved. As I said, it's free and a must-have app for all Symbian S60 smartphone owners. Here's the download link.

SamsungSamsung's handset division keeps growing like crazy. Last year they've produced a total of 160 million mobile phones and this year they're shooting for 200 million mark. Half of the mobile phones shipped last year were made in Korea, while other half is built in Samsung's factories in China, Brazil and India. And they keep expanding…

The Korean giant is set to build a new factory in Vietnam that at some point will be able to produce up to 100 million units per annum. The location is already set and reportedly it's the citizens of the Bac Ninh Province which will benefit the most from the new facility. Either later this year or early next year, they'll begin with production capacity of 30 million handsets, with a view to raising its annual production capacity to 100 million units.

You would think labor in China is inexpensive, but apparently Vietnamese are ready to work for half of the money their Chinese counterparts are. In addition, Samsung Vietnam's location is beneficial for the Korean company as it can easily export handset to rapidly growing markets in the region, such as Thailand, Malaysia and Cambodia, at lower tariff rates.

So what can we say except good luck Samsung! Maybe it's a good idea to transfer the production of low-end handsets to other, non-Korean factories, while keeping cream de la cream for the domestic labor. Or you already do so?

GIGA-BYTE GSmart t600

I'm not actually sure what's GIGA-BYTE strategy when it comes to Europe, but they seem to struggle to push their phones in a big way. Lately they've announced the launch of the GSmart t600 Windows Mobile smartphone on French MVNO Neuf Cegetel.

We don't have any information about the pricing yet, but we know one thing - the GSmart t600 is one great device. There's the 2.6-inch VGA touchscreen, 2 megapixel camera, WiFi, Bluetooth, 520 MHz CPU, DVB-T digital Television receiver, microSD memory expansion slot and whole lot more. Windows Mobile 6 Professional is running the show…

Finally, it's important to add the GSmart t600 will be available as a bundle Neuf's service plan, under the commercial name of TWIN TNT.

use your phone while driving part

In case you still haven't figure that out, you shouldn't your mobile phone while driving. If you insist it's safe when YOU drive, consider the following article.

A $5.2 million verdict was recently reached in Fulton County, GA, in a personal injury case involving a vehicle accident caused by mobile phone use behind the wheel.

“According to the complaint filed in 2006, an employee of International Paper Co. rear-ended Debra Ford, while speaking on her cell phone. Her cruise control had been set at 77 mph in a 70 mph speed limit zone. The impact of the automobile accident caused Ms. Ford's vehicle to overturn, which pinned her arm between the automobile and the pavement. The plaintiff's arm had to be amputated just below the shoulder.”

You know what to do next, right? If you still don't have one, purchase yourself one of those Bluetooth automobile kits or use the regular headphones. It's much safer that way.

ZJ268

What we have here is everything but a regular device. Certain Chinese handset maker claims that their phone ZJ268 can work for nearly two years without single battery charging. The secret is in the ultra-powerful, 120 grams heavy 32,800mAh battery that should reportedly keep you far from power outlets for devilish 666 days.

There's also the huge 3 inch touchscreen, some camera, Bluetooth support and we guess a microSD memory slot. Best of all, the dual-band, dual-SIM ZJ268 is quite cheap — it could be yours for $128 from Solomobi, though we have to warn you about the questionable quality… Few more images follow after the jump.

Mario Kart Wii is set to come out April 27. Until then, though, we got a ton of new videos of the game to check out. GameTrailers has several new videos, but I’ve only snatched a couple of my favorites, which are all after the jump.

But before that, here’s the Japanese intro for the game. Mario, Luigi and Princess Peach are racing along on invisible karts with the stupid wheel shell. After Peach knocks away Luigi, the movie cuts into random gameplay scenes of the various courses, vehicles and maps. Just look at how Peach looks at Mario. She’s such a cockteasing b*tch.
