Actually this story isn't very new at all, but I stumbled across it whilst looking at other info on the ever-wonderful Interweb. Cell phones etc wrote up a list of the top 10 places to lose your cellphone - rather than replicate the entire list here (you can read that by clicking the link at the end), I thought I'd pull out a couple of old favourites, along with their respective positions:
8. Roof Of Your Vehicle
We’ve all done it. Especially you wack-o’s who use those gigantic Bluetooth headsets. (Aren’t you worried about growing golf ball sized tumors?)
You’re on the phone, which you’ve left on the roof of your vehicle, and you don’t realize it until the call disconnects when your Treo explodes on the ground after breaking swiftly to avoid murdering a squirrel. At least you know for sure you have to purchase a new one. Hopefully you had insurance.
Chance of recovery: 0-100% (Depending on where it lands, and if you remember before it falls… and if you have insurance)
6. Airport Security
You’ve stood in line for 30 minutes to check in. You’ve stood in line for 45 minutes to go through security. Then you get the dreaded tap: “Sir, you’ve been randomly selected for a thourough search of your belongings.”
In the process of removing your coat, shoes, belt and explaining why your nipples beap each time the metal detector passes over them, your brand new Amp’d Jet phone disappears. You don’t realize it until you hear your name over the airport loud speaker.
Chance of recovery: 50-100% (Depending on how much time you have before your flight leaves. If you don’t immediately retrieve it from security, it is destroyed)
1. The toilet at a bus station (Or any public place for that matter)
If you go in after it, you’ll probably catch some horrible disease, turn green and die.
Besides, you can flush a small child down most of those public toilets. Once you flush, it’s gone.

Chance of recovery: 0% (Don’t even think about sticking your hand in there!)
So, IntoMobile readers, do we’ve any new entries to add to the original list (which you can find here)? If so, I might even go to the trouble of generating a new “IntoMobile Top 10″ - come on, I bet all you guys have lost/smashed/misplaced your Moble somewhere pleasing at least once….

Now and again at IntoMobile Towers, we do get the odd random story in - the one below is right up there with them, and is about underwater Mobile Television viewing - yes, you heard it right….
Apparently Japanese manufacturer Fujitsu has created the Fujitsu F706i, which is a waterproof mobile that can receive digital TV signals (whilst underwater!). Now quite why you would want to watch Mobile TV underwater is beyond me, but then again it could just be that these are unrelated featues on the phone…..
Some brief specs are:
* HSDPA support
* 1-Seg mobile TV
* Waterproof up to 3m
* 2.7″ display
* 2 megapixel camera
* microSD/SDHC memory card slot
All very nice, but I am waiting for the first review where the reviewer watches Television whilst in the bath, and then decides to re-charge the device at the same time - I'm sure I remember reading somewhere that water and electricity don't mix well n'est pas?

Apple's iPhone partner in Japan has been announced - it's SoftBank. The short release states:
SOFTBANK MOBILE Corp. today announced it has signed an agreement with Apple to bring the iPhone to Japan later this year.
Engadget notes that it's interesting to see whether they'll get a 3G iPhone. SoftBank is a W-CDMA (UMTS 3G), not GSM/EDGE carrier, a fact that points them to believe Japanese mobile phone users will be amongst the first to enjoy the 3G speeds on their shiny phones.
We'll watch this carefully, have no doubt about it…

Ladies and gentlemen, HTC Raphael has been officially announced. It's new name is HTC Touch Pro!
The Windows Mobile 6.1 super-phone will be getting its power from Qualcomm's MSM7201A 528 MHz CPU, and will also boast virtually each possible acronym you can envision — including HSDPA, GPS, WiFi. Rest of the specs involve a 3.2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, microSD memory expansion slot, 288 MB of RAM coupled with 512MB of ROM, 2.8-inch VGA screen, and, behold the full slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Because of the last mentioned, the Touch Pro is much thicker than the Diamond but few extra millimeters are there for a reason. The 18.05mm thick device weighs 165 grams, and is set to hit Europe in “late summer”, while North and Latin America will have to wait a little longer…
Few more press images follow after the jump.

E-TEN has launched new phones at this year's Computex. Let's briefly go through each of the devices, shall we.
First comes the Glofiish DX900 which we saw back in May and then we knew it will be unveiled during Computex. The “Best Choice of Computex” award-winning device is the first dual-SIM and dual-standby Windows Mobile smartphone, sporting such things as HSDPA support, VGA touchscreen, built-in GPS receiver, WiFi, and a 3 megapixel camera.
Then goes the Glofiish V900, which was announced back in February. The mobile Television ready smartphone boasts both DVB-T/H and T-DMB/DAB receivers, allowing users around the globe to enjoy TV programming while on-the-go. Qualcomm's MediaFLO isn't included in the mix, though. VGA screen is there to ensure high-quality image.

Finally, two other devices — the Glofiish X900 and Glofiish X610 — are clearly out-shined by both DX900 and V900, hence I can't easily find many words of praise for them. The former packs the HSDPA support, while the latter “offers both value and functionally in a sleek handset that's perfect for GPS navigation.”

All four devices run the latest version of Microsoft's mobile OS - Windows Mobile 6.1 and in addition sport a new E-TEN's touch-friendly 3D interface on top of it.
I'm all for the DX900 and am looking forward to see other handset makers following the suit and launching their own dual-SIM smartphones.

Google has updated its Google Maps for Mobile application for S60 smartphones. There were no official announcement or a blog post about the version 2.1 (or at least I haven't found one), but eagle-eyed Steve Litchfield along with its readers noticed several improvements, including:
- Several speed improvements
- Zooming in/out is slicker/clearer
- Favorites sharing with other apps, including Nokia Maps and Route 66
- Menus are tweaked a bit
- Route junctions are shown with a diamond icon
- Extra languages are supported
If you notice something else new, please let us know. In the meantime, to download Google Maps for Mobile, simply point your S60 browser to www.google.com/gmm and take it from there.

Digia, former SysOpen Digia which is known for its 48-inch tall Symbian S60 phone, announced their web browser for Symbian UIQ platform - Digia @Web. The soon-to-be-released application is the first full finger touch web browser for UIQ platform and is based on the same core Nokia's S60 browser and Apple's Safari use - Webkit.
Commenting on the announcement, Digia's Director of Special Projects, Tuukka Turunen, said: “We chose webkit as the engine for our browser because it is fast and reliable, and allows web content to be seen in its true form. By combining the open-source webkit engine with our new and intuitive browser UI we have created the best and most powerful tool to surf the web with touch enabled UIQ phones.”
Don't get me wrong, pre-installed Opera is a solid solution, but you still need a stylus from time to time to use it. Until Opera Mobile 9.5 is released (with hopefully more touch intuitive controls), I'll try using Digia @Web for a while. That's actually once the public beta is released sometime this month.

http://www.usb-computer-speakers.com/ Interesting All-In-One webcam speaker USB hub device from Kye-Genius corp. Not a FULLY Macintosh compatible web camera. Older, non-UVC sensor, buggy drivers under OSX Leopard 10.5, uninspired sound quality from speakers. Could be a great product with improvements - but the Look 313 caused grief and dissapointment. Still, an interesting laptop or desk…

This summer, Verizon will be introducing the ruggedly designed Motorola Adventure V750 alongside its push-to-talk service. The RAZR2-ish device meets military specifications for usage in extreme conditions — meaning that the device can handle such things as shock, vibration, solar radiation, high temperature storage, altitude, high and low temperature operation, and blowing dust. In addition, the Adventure V750 also sports 2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, EV-DO Rev. A, microSD slot, and a battery that lasts for 330 minutes when used in a talk mode (230 in PTT) or 540 hours in standby mode (83 in PTT). Supported Verizon services include V CAST Music with Rhapsody, V CAST Video and VZ Navigator. As for the size, Moto's rugged clamshell measures 2.0

Let's see, HTC has its own UI (TouchFLO and TouchFLO 3D) running on top of Windows Mobile, Gigabyte and Sony Ericsson are working on something similar, and now ASUS is joining the pack with its Glide — in its release ASUS doesn't specifies on top of which mobile OS Glide will run, however all their handsets are using Windows Mobile.
Unveiled at Computex, the new user interface makes “multitasking easier than ever” allowing users to “interact seamlessly with their handhelds to obtain everything they require; in fun, style and simplicity.”
To be fair, we haven't seen Glide in action, but considering how the iPhone raised the bar, it would be stupid for Taiwan-based manufacturer to release something not useful. As far as we know, Glide will pack such screens as “ASUS This day,” “Anytime Launcher,” “EziPhoto” and “EziMusic.” Although quite small, first screenshots look promising and I can't wait to give this baby a try as soon as it's released. So, dear ASUS if you need a tester, count me in.
