LG Secret launched in Korea

LG is bringing the KF750 aka Secret back to its courtyard. Why it took them so long is a tricky question, but knowing that LG is one smart company, I'm certain there's a good reason for postponing the Korean release until now.

As far as we know, the Korean version is identical to the Secrets we've seen launched in other parts of the world, and has the same 5 megapixel camera which can record video at 120 frames per second. The DivX-certified device also boasts a 2.4″ QVGA screen, HSDPA support, Bluetooth, and microSD memory slot…

HTC Touch Diamond, Touch Pro coming to Sprint, Verizon?

Just when we reported that the HTC Touch Pro in CDMA flavor has been spotted at the FCC, another news item caught our eye. Apparently, Sprint and Verizon will get to carry both the Diamond and the Touch Pro. And while we're not sure about the release date at this stage, it seems to me both carriers are eager to announce the two smartphones as soon as they can. After all, they do want all those people who are eager to sign up for any of the quite expensive iPhone plans. And one thing is certain - neither the Diamond nor Touch Pro will be inexpensive and will require a decent plan.

Once again, our eyes our wide open for any HTC related announcement, so stay tuned…

PlayStation 3 theme for BlackBerry rocks!

What we have here today is a new theme for select BlackBerry device owners. The so called PlayStation 3 theme for BlackBerry adds the so-much-needed playful touch to the 8300 and 8800 series, allowing you to handle your day-to-day mobile activities easier. Or at least, that's the way I feel about it.

Virtually each single graphic has been customized and the UI looks like it was grabbed from the upcoming BlackBerry 9000. Rollover effects are especially nice and so are all the icons used.

One thing I don't quite understand is why they haven't made it available for the Pearl owners, though that's not actually a downside but a developer's choice.

The PS3 theme for BlackBerry is available for $7 at CrackBerry Shop and few more screenshots follow after the jump.

HTC Touch Pro in CDMA flavor gets FCC approval

Good news for our U.S. readers who lust to get their hands on the HTC's superphone and its ubiquitous keyboard. The CDMA version of HTC Touch Pro has been spotted passing the FCC hurdle, hinting us we might seen it hitting the Verizon's and Sprint's store shelves in the near future. The phone number “RAPH800″ features CDMA with EV-DO on the 850 and 1900MHz bands, and all other cool things the original GSM-based Touch Pro has. That includes WiFi, uber-cool TouchFLO 3D user interface, VGA screen and more.

With iPhone scheduled for launch within less than two weeks, it seems obvious the AT&T's competitors will want to push the HTC's super-baby out as soon as possible. We're watching closely…

There's nothing like a tiny friendly carrier-rivalry to give entrenched incumbents a good jolt. Competition ends up benefiting the consumer, after all. So, what better way to eat in to CDMA competitors' giant wireless subscriber-base than to offer their customers a way to bring their CDMA Sprint or Verizon handsets to MetroPCS's network?

MetroPCS has introduced their MetroFlash service, aimed at bringing Sprint and Verizon customers in to MetroPCS's flat-rate calling network. MetroFlash aims toMetroPCS reprogram, or “flash,” compatible CDMA handsets to disable any annoying carrier locks and branding and allow handsets previously locked to Sprint and Verizon to work on MetroPCS's airwaves.

While GSM customers (at least those with unlocked handsets) have been able to take their GSM handset from carrier to carrier with tiny regard for compatibility issues, MetroPCSs MetroFlash service is among the few CDMA-based offerings to attempt to duplicate that same level of convenience.

CDMA handsets deemed compatible with MetroPCS's network (read: tested by MetroPCS) can be “flashed” by MetroPCS to work on their CDMA network. Of course, the service is limited to CDMA handsets, as GSM handsets, like the iPhone, work on a totally different communications standard.

The MetroFlash service offers eligible customers unlimited flat-rate wireless service for $40 a month - a particularly attractive proposition to Sprint and Verizon customers that don't leave their home-area often.

The new service will only be offered in markets covered by MetroPCS's network, so make sure you can jump on the MetroPCS bandwagon before you tell Sprint or Verizon to bugger off.

Neil YoungNgmoco is the newest mobile gaming start-up to hit the scene. With mobile gaming getting a renewed push from the iPhone, Neil Young decided it was time to leave his executive position at EA Games to form a new start-up aimed at making games exclusively for the iPhone. Apparently, a stagnated mobile games market was ripe for change and Young believes that “we are finally at the place where we have the ability to reinvent the experiences and the economics of the mobile games business.” Young adds that the mobile gaming industry “has been stagnant for a few years. I feel the iPhone is a real chance to change that industry.'”

Young rose to fame at Electronics Arts as the development executive responsible for the millions-sold success of the titles like “Lord Of The Rings” and “Sims 2.” After working on EA's next big-hit, “Spore,” Young left the company to begin Ngmoco.

Ngmoco will make and publish games for the iPhone, pushing the iconic Apple handset as a gaming platform poised to redefine the industry. Young looks at the iPhone 3G and the AppStore as perfect platforms to give mobile gaming the boost that the industry has so badly needed for the past few years.

But, that's not to state that the iPhone and Mac OS in the mobile space will be the end-all be-all in terms of rejuvenating the mobile gaming market. Young is also looking to Google's Android OS as another possible gaming platform worth developing for. Of course, we'll have to wait for the platform to officially hit the scene before it's viability as a gaming platform can be assessed.

Good luck, Neil and Ngmoco. We're looking forward to mobile gaming of “Spore” caliber for the iPhone.
