Now I am sure some of you’ve heard of the djay software by Algoriddim - it allows you to act as a virtual DJ on your Mac, pulling in iTunes and mixing to your heart’s content. It is award-winning, as it has scratch and automix features too, but what I’m wondering is…. are we gonna get an iPhone version - envision two turntables, on something the size of a handset - oh yes!

Above is a screenshot from the Mac version - my mission, is to find out whether they are going to port this - update coming soon….
By the way, if you want to find out more about the Mac software, go here.

What we’ve here today is a new ripoff device wearing the OQO branding, while at the same time resembling some of the Palm’s popular smartphones - Treo 500 or Centro. According to UMPC Portal, OQO has nothing to do with the phone and “the manufacturer is not authorised by or affiliated with OQO in any way.”
The strange thing, though, is that apparently this device runs Windows Mobile 6.1. How on Earth they managed to get a license from Microsoft is beyond me. It’s clearly a ripoff device and I don’t see a reason why would the Redmond giant go this way.
Other specs include quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE radio, 2 megapixel camera, 624MHz CPU, 128MB RAM, Bluetooth and WiFi. On the downside, we don’t see a sign of 3G, nor an option that the OQO G900 will ever hit the Western hemisphere…

Just when they unveiled that Gameloft will make its games optimized for the JS1 controller, Zeemote announced a new “partner in crime” - Sony Ericsson. The Swedish-Japanese handset maker will bundle the Zeemote JS1 with the W760i Walkman phone in Netherlands.
The offer will run from August 8th 2008 to October 31st 2008 throughout hundreds of
retail outlets across the country. The JS1 Controller will be offered free to purchasers of Sony Ericsson W760i via a mail-in voucher promotion. Two Zeemote Ready games will come pre-installed on the device, with a further fourteen additional games available through the Fun & Downloads section at Sony Ericsson’s website.
As for the W760i, it’s probably one of the best mid-range feature phones, sporting a 3.2 megapixel camera, built-in GPS receiver, media player and much more.

Here we go again. Apple is still a one-trick pony in the mobile space. They have their flagship, their only ship really, the iPhone 3G. Sure, the first-generation iPhone is still circulating, but the form-factors and features are almost identical. Apple really only has one significant mobile phone offering with their iPhone 3G in a wireless market that rewards diversity with market share and revenue.
The publishing of certain patent applications paired with Apple’s lack of handset diversity have led analysts to predict that Apple is working on an iPhone Nano - a pared-down iPhone with limited features compared to the iPhone 3G - for the entry-level iPhone user. Today, that rumor has been revisited.
The DailyMail cites an “industry source” in speculating that Apple is preparing to launch their iPhone Nano in time for the holiday shopping season - Q4 2008. And, the rumor includes a price-point of £150 for the iPhone Nano on a pay-as-you-go plan from O2 in the UK.
The lower price point would attract even more iPhone buyers in the struggling global economy, as well as customers looking for a smaller, more compact iPhone variant.
Rumors of iPhone variants have been passed around many times before, only to fall flat. We’d recommend not holding your breath for the iPhone Nano, along with a helping of salt.

If the majority of new products and services from wireless carriers and handset manufacturers recently seems to be an answer to something from Apple, it’s probably because it is. Sure, Apple’s iPhone, iPhone 3G, iTunes integration, and AppStore may not be directly responsible for all of the wireless industry’s current advancements, but Cupertino’s entry in to the mobile space certainly sparked a new appreciation among manufacturers and service providers for sleek and integrated user interfaces that deliver a user experience to be desired.
Case in point, Apple’s integration of the iPhone with one of (if not the most) the most prolific and widely known music and software stores (iTunes and AppStore) has sparked a response from big-hitters Microsoft and Nokia.

Microsoft has vested interest in seeing their Zune Marketplace maintain a competitive edge in a crowded market. And Nokia could be just the handset mega-manufacturer to give Redmond the market-leverage to bring the Zune Marketplace to millions upon millions of users.
Microsoft is reportedly working closely with Nokia to integrate the Zune Marketplace in to Nokia’s dizzying lineup of mobile phones. This isn’t a Zune Phone, as has been rumored to be in the works, but a new service that’ll be featured on some of Nokia’s 430+ million handsets sold every year. What’s interesting is that Microsoft will have to develop a Zune Marketplace platform that is compatible with the Symbian software architecture used by Nokia. If true, Microsoft would be working to battle the iPhone and it’s iTunes integration on both the Windows Mobile and Symbian fronts.
Having missed their latest projections for Windows Mobile sales, Microsoft can use all the help they have the ability to get.

If you’ve recently purchased an iPhone 3G, or upgraded your original iPhone to the iPhone 2.0 OS, you’ll probably already have logged in some serious time with the AppStore and all the new features (like improved web surfing) that make the iPhone 2.0 OS so much more usable than previous versions. You’re also likely well aware of the new iPhone OS’s tendency to bog down and lag each once in a while. Sure, it can get annoying, but what are you going to do?
Well, in case you haven’t yet noticed, Apple has seeded the latest version of the iPhone OS through iTunes. iPhone 2.0.1 OS, as it’s known, seems to improve the iPhone’s stability and speed. The new firmware is a hefty 250MB download so set aside a good chunk of time to download and install the sucker.
We’ll see how the iPhone 2.0.1 OS treats us in the long run. Anyone else noticing a stability or speed improvement?

ZTE is far from being known as a high-end handset maker. Usually, the phones made by the Chinese company are positioned at the very low-end of the spectrum.
Recently unveiled by the FCC, ZTE A139+, is everything but an exception. The dual-band (850/1900 MHz) GSM device doesn’t impresses with its specs, at all. There’s a 1.3 megapixel camera, 16 MB of Flash storage on board, as well as and such standard pre-installed apps as alarm clock, calculator, stopwatch, world time, some games, and more.
Now, that I’m thinking I’m not sure why we’re wasting space writing about it. Some people might care, as this is one of those entry-level devices which you could get for next to nothing and use it as your second or even third phone on a pay-as-you-go plan or even go pre-paid with it…

Recently I posted on a growing menace in our society - namely that of anti-social ‘people’, who think it’s acceptable to blast out their ‘fave choonz’ from the speaker on their mobile handset, whilst walking/riding/sloping/grunting along in public.
I was surprised to find out that this isn’t just a UK phenomenon, oh no… my post attracted comments from the following global locations:
- South Coast (of the UK)
- West Coast (of the US!)
- Venezuela
- Australia
- Israel
… and I’m sure there are several more.
Just the other day, I was returning home from a day in London, only to spend ten infuriating minutes in the same train carriage with a group of incredibly rude teenagers- behaviour included:
- Verbally abusing female passers-by
- Treating the seats like a climbing frame
- Swearing (every other word)
- Fighting (with each other)
- Shouting along to a rap song that was playing out of one of the perpetrators’ handsets
This dovetails neatly in to my ‘million-dollar question’ for the IntoMobile readers:
What do we do about this growing menace….?
Comments are welcome …. unfortunately those involving the application of physical violence won’t be acceptable. Probably.
