If you thought that Renegade Kid moving away from Gamecock to publish their next DS title Moon meant their relationship was over, think again.

I really believe (and hope) that this is one sick mind reading too much into things, but if it’s not then the Wii is taking a perverse turn for the erotic with Captain Rainbow — a potential powder keg of smug and degradation the likes of which my fair Christian eyes have ne’er before witnessed.

According to reader Josh, the above video has Birdo trapped in a cage and only proof that she’s a woman will set her free (Josh suggests Birdo was caught using the woman’s water closet and mistaken for a man.) In order to prove Birdo’s innocence and femininity, Captain Rainbow must fetch her vibrator. Um … okay. I’m sure there’s a perfectly innocent explanation, but it’s pretty suspect stuff if you’re just looking at the visuals.

Pirates vs. Ninjas Dodgeball slated for release on Wii screenshot

Pirates, ninjas, zombies, robots, and three unannounced teams (I’m rooting for werewolves) playing dodgeball together? It’s just crazy enough to work.

We already know that Pirates vs. Ninjas Dodgeball is prepped to hit Xbox LIVE Arcade next week, but Gamecock has given us word that a Wii version is also in the works.

The Wii port will be popping up in stores this winter and will contain a few enhancements such as: new story and challenge modes, as well as the obvious control scheme change to “better” suit the Wii.

Oh, and if you happen to be going to this year’s PAX, Pirates vs. Ninjas Dodgeball will be playable at the convention. Go try it out and tell us how it is.

Sony CEO talks Wii, says sales aren't 'hurting' Sony screenshot

Sony CEO, Howard Stringer, recently spoke to German outlet Welt On the internet about research and development cost, PlayStation 3 demand, and even the impact that the Wii has on the PS3. Not surprisingly, Stringer revealed that Sony is losing money on their newest console and games are the only source of profit at this point.

Interestingly, Stringer then begins congratulating Nintendo for capturing the casual market that Sony has traditionally sought out with titles like SingStar and states that the Wii doesn’t pose a threat to Sony’s plans.

The major difference lies in the fact that Nintendo makes money with the hardware alone, which may be a superior business model. But the Wii isn’t succeeding at our expense – it isn’t hurting us. We decided years ago to build a game console that offers much greater functionality. The PlayStation 3 has an enormous processor; it is gradually emerging as the central server in our users’ homes.

Although I’m just a sofa CEO, I think the Wii may be throwing a little wrench into Sony’s plans of global domination with their console. I find it hard to believe that a console that sells as swiftly and as well as the Wii isn’t affecting the potential of a PS3 in every home.

Wii has the most original IP, if you can call 20,000 minigames original screenshot

In what could be a job for Captain Obvious, a new Screen Digest report reveals that the Wii has more original IP than its competitors. According to the report, 40 games based on original IP are headed our way in the third quarter and of that number, over half will be Wii games.

The report theorizes that low development costs, motion-controls and the target audience are all factors for this slew of original content. That can be translated as this — developers know they can sh*t out a half-baked, waggle-based sack of crap on a shoestring budget and a bunch of dribbling nincompoops will snap it up. I should be a market analyst.

The Wii apparently has expanded its original IP base — to which Carnival Games and Escape From Bug Island belong — to more than double that of the PlayStation 3. It also has a third more than the Xbox 360. Again, Carnival Games is part of that equation. The report also warned that the Wii could become the most competitive market this holiday season, as the library becomes congested and publishers compete for space.

Aah, good old market saturation. Good for any industry, and with no obvious side effects. Just ask Atari!

Inmarsat Mobile Satellite to be launched from Kazakhstan

No, this isn’t a joke, it’s true! A British mobile satellite, approximately the size of a double-decker bus, is due to be launched in Kazakhstan. This launch completes Inmarsat’s £722mn programme to increase broadband coverage across the world.

The six tonne satellite has already been lifted into launch position at the Baikonur Cosmodrome. The take-off was previously delayed because of a fault discovered during testing.

An Inmarsat spokesman said: “The Proton M will carry the Inmarsat-4 F3 into geostationary orbit at 22,240 miles.

“Once tested and operational, it will provide satellite phone and mobile broadband services to North and South America at 98 degrees west.

“And together with its two sister satellites, already in orbit, the completed constellation will deliver full and seamless global coverage for our entire range of broadband mobile satellite services.”

This is some crazy stuff, but imagine soon the world will be carpeted in various forms of wireless broadband - I don’t know what I would do if I couldn’t update my Facebook profile whilst on the move, and now I can rely on satellite as another channel to do so!

HTC Dream

Ladies and gents today we’re presenting you with the first leaked photos of the Android-powered HTC Dream. As you can see from the image above — and more images after the jump — the device clearly wears the T-Mobile badge. The QWERTY keyboard doesn’t look that great, though, and I wonder why HTC and Google haven’t opted for the similar-kind-of-keyboard HTC uses in its Touch Pro model. That one looks much superior. Anyway, don’t want to put the device down prior to trying it… Keep reading for more photos.
