Surprise! Nintendo says it might not satisfy Wii demand this Christmas screenshot

Now isn’t that a real shocker? Another Christmas has rolled around, and Nintendo has once again said that it may not be able to meet demand, despite production being at an all-time high.

“Nintendo has continually raised the production levels of the Wii hardware,” stated Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime. “We’re now producing 2.4 million units a month worldwide. Last year, we made 1.6 million a month. So we’ve made a 33% increase.”

You can trust that Reggie of all people has certainly beefed up the production, but it seems that the gravy boat just isn’t massive enough and there’s plenty of meat to the rumors that the Wii is hard to find. Let’s not mince our words here — if you go looking for a Wii, chances are you won’t find a sausage.

I wonder how many more years this will happen. It’s actually quite breathtaking to think that the Wii is still not able to meet demand, given how short the attention span of the mainstream audience usually is. Nintendo is pumping out consoles at a rate of 50% more than usual, but it’s clearly preparing for another wave of shortages. If you’re after a waggle box yourself, our advice is that you get in swift.

Reggie’s advice is that you steak out your local EB Games.

A few weeks out now from the official launch of the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220, T-Mobile has a new color up for offer. A new RED version of the new BlackBerry Flip phone is now available. Pricing and other details remain the same: $150 on a 2-year contract after rebates. So if you’d prefer a red flipper then this is the device for you.

The BlackBerry Pearl Flip packs in these main features:

  • 240 x 320 internal display, 128 x 160 external display
  • Quad-band EDGE (no 3G, boo)
  • Wi-Fi (still waiting on the BlackBerry 8210 for GPS)
  • Four hours talk time, 14 days standby
  • External microSDHC slot
  • 3.5mm headphone jack

As I read this news I was reminded of a report I happened to see last night on CNN. Turns out that wearing the color red helps boost your sex appeal. I wonder if toting around a red BlackBerry will do the same thing?

One of my favourite apps on BlackBerry is Vlingo, which grants users to issue a variety of voice-activated commands, like Google searches, text messages, and since their latest beta, Twitter and Facebook updates. I was actually hurting a tiny bit once I got the Bold, since they didn’t have full support at the time, but it looks like things are running pretty smoothly on it now. The freeness helps, of course, but Vlingo is actually really great quality transcription, with only a few corrections typically needed. They’re also tacking on application launch support for Viigo, Google Maps, Facebook and Opera, which are easily some of the most frequently used bits of BlackBerry software out there. The downside is that the voice recognition is done server-side, so if you don’t have a signal, you’re in a bit a of trouble. Head over to www.vlingo.com/v2 to get started.

I’m not sure have you heard about Evernote, but I find to be the single best note taking tool. Furthermore, it’s one of my top 5 favorite iPhone apps, and I’m glad to report that it just got superior by including the offline support.

Let’s face it, you don’t have the World wide web on your iPhone all the time. This is especially true if you’re not actually using an iPhone but an iPod Touch, which doesn’t connect to the cellular network. Moreover, if you happen to fly somewhere or travel with metro, you can’t rely on your connection. That’s when you need the offline support, which is now — I’m glad to report — included in Evernote…

What are you waiting for? Hop over to AppStore and grab the latest version of Evernote. Here’s a link.

EA Mobile is committing to the Android platform. The gaming giant has made the all time popular Tetris game available for the Google’s mobile OS. In addition, EA wowed to release Bejeweled and Monopoly Here & Now Edition during the month of November.

I won’t talk much about any of the games, as I’m sure you already know everything you need to know about each of the titles. I’ll only add that all three games rely on G1’s touchscreen to deliver great gaming experience.

The problem, though, is that Andorid Market at the moment doesn’t support non-free application. That prompted EA Mobile to make its games available for download directly from their website from where users can buy them. However, as soon as Google enables users to buy apps through Android Market, I’m sure EA Mobile will be among the first companies to jump on board. In the meantime, if you’re that eager to enjoy any of the mentioned games on your G1, you’ll have to install them manually.

Looking good, singing away...

Looking good, singing away…

Namco Bandai Networks Europe Ltd, a leading global publisher of mobile games, has announced the launch of ‘The X Factor 2008 - The Mobile Game’, a brand new game based on award-winning entertainment show that gives mobile subscribers the opportunity to test out their own star credentials on the move. Available immediately across all major UK operators, including Vodafone, O2, T-Mobile and Orange, the new game continues the growing trend for hands-on interactive games which target a wider audience base of casual gamers. The format has been licensed by FremantleMedia Enterprises’ Licensing division to Namco Bandai.

Seems like someone has been busy getting this in to all the Operators… I wonder exactly how the game could work - my vote would be for an app that can take the users’ vocals from the mic on the handset, and then give back curt and sometimes rude comments from the judges - all whilst on the move!

In reality (pun intended), the game is a role-play type of affair, with you completing mini-games to progress. Aw shame, I would have liked the singing game I described - ahem…. not for me to use personally, of course… ahem.
