I don’t know if you heard earlier, but it was first said that Wii Speak units came with a one-time activation code linked to that unit, for use with the Wii Speak Channel software download. This means that only those that first buy it can use it fully, making used units useless.

This brought about several questions. What happens if you lose your number? Or what happens if you acquire a new or replacement Wii console?

GamesIndustry tells us that Nintendo will now offer a replacement code for those situations. Unfortunately, there’s still no word on if they’ll offer codes for a second-hand Wii Speak unit.

Back before that whole World wide web thing caught on, serious glitches were a developer’s nightmare and tiny could be done to remedy the situation outside of replacing faulty game cartridges or discs.

While we still see a game-breaking glitch pop up each now and again, it’s never quite as troublesome as the days back when Sega did what Nintendon’t.

Take, for instance, Tomb Raider Underworld for the Wii. According to forum posts Nintendo Everything found on the Eidos boards, the game apparently has a major issue in the Coastal Thailand level that brings story progression to a stop.

Destructoid has obtained an artist’s rendering of the troublesome bug, as seen above. Forget the fact that it’s taken from the Xbox 360 version of Underworld — Lara and her lovely tiger assistant are fugly in the Wii port, so we’re doing you a favor.

I think one of the most unappetizing games I could think of would be Boogerman: A Pick and Flick Adventure (Sega Genesis, 1 player, 800 Wii Points). But that’s not going to cease Nintendo from allowing its release on the week of the American Thanksgiving holiday, a day which we shall feast upon the carcass of a bird and indulge in sweet yams and intoxicated family. And now digital boogers. Fabulous.

WiiWare also sees updates, the first of which is Boingz (RealArcade, 1 player, 1,000 Wii Points), a curious tiny game that appears to have you controlling condom aliens. You use these aliens’ antennae to stretch and flick them around the screen, solving platform puzzles and trying to skirt around safe sex discussions with your kids/younger siblings/parents.

We all know by now that the Wii is only for the hardcore crowd. Games like WiiMusic, Agatha Christie: Evil Under the Sun, and Animal Crossing are above and beyond what casual gamers can understand. Thankfully, D3Publisher has stepped up to the plate to provide what all Wii owners need – a game full of casual mini-games.

The above trailer is for Family Party: 30 Great Games. There are around thirty great games included in Family Celebration. That means that there are thirty opportunities to have a great time with your family. Also, envision throwing a celebration for your family and playing thirty mini-games. Sounds great, doesn’t it?

Along with the mini-games (there are thirty of them) players will be able to choose from tons of avatars, including animals. There’s also a multiplayer component that will grant an amazing four players to compete at the same time. There are even high scores. Needless to say, Family Party: 30 Great Games looks care about it will be a great game, especially if that great trailer above is any great indication of quality.
