Break out the galoshes peripherals, Activision trademarks 'We Fish' screenshot

While I certainly don’t fish (Leave the house? Are you mad? There are bugs out there!), Activision is possibly hoping that maybe we do.

On December 7, the Santa Monica-based publisher filed for trademark of “We Fish” in regards to “computer game software.” Based on the title alone, one can venture to guess that this unannounced title would end up on the Wii. Because “we” and “Wii” sound the same, so using in the title of your Wii game is clever. Get it?

Evasive Space screenshot

As Jim and many others have noted, WiiWare hasn’t exactly taken the world by storm. A few early games like LostWinds held immense promise for the service, but since then, quality WiiWare titles have been like diamonds in the rough. High Voltage Software, developer of the highly anticipated upcoming Wii-exclusive FPS The Conduit, is trying to change that with a slate of WiiWare games due out early in 2009. One of them is Evasive Space, a Wii Remote-controlled title that’s being published by Yuke’s.

I had the chance to check out a preview build of the game yesterday in New York, and it certainly looks like it could be the next “diamond” for the Wii’s downloadable game service. Hit the jump for more details.

[Update: This preview originally stated there were two types of levels; there are actually three. The article has been updated to reflect this. –Samit]

City Folk screenshot

Animal Crossing: City Folk may be the most unfortunately named videogame I’ve ever played. The Animal and Crossing parts don’t really bother me, but that City Folk suffix really gets me down. With a name like that, people are bound to assume that the game takes place in a city. That just ain’t right. The closest thing this game has to a city is little commercial area that features a large old clock tower, an ATM, and a few random stores. Come to this game anticipating more of a city than that, and you’re going to be disappointed.

European Track Pack for Guitar Hero World Tour sneaks out screenshot

Guitar Hero World Tour fans who only had their hopes up for today’s “Nirvana Track Pack” release are in for a tiny surprise. Activision has quietly sneaked out another track pack today, this one entitled the “European Track Pack 01.”

The pack consists of three songs by three European bands I will admit I’ve never heard of: “Mama Mae” by Negrita, “54 74 90 2010″ by Sportfreunde Stiller, and “Dis Mois” by BB Brunes. The entire pack is now available for Xbox LIVE for 440 MS Points, or you can pick up the individual tracks at 160 MS Points a piece; the PlayStation 3 and the Wii should be seeing the tracks shortly.

Ninja Turtles brawler coming to the Wii screenshot

Well, I was excited up until the “Wii” part.

Nevertheless, Ubisoft is bringing a brand new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game to Nintendo’s white waggle box, a 2.5D fighter with a variety of modes and an on the internet function which is claimed to beat out Super Smash Bros. Brawl’s.
