Sega of America sent us this “Happy Holidays” trailer for Platinum Games’ hyperviolent upcoming action game MadWorld, and they made sure to let us know that it was censored for “graphic content.” That alone was enough to annoy me, but then they rubbed salt in the wound by noting that Sega Europe would be sending out an uncensored version. But we’re only allowed to post the censored version. Fiddlesticks.

Remember how Europe got the uncensored version of The Joker’s Fatality in Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe? I could comprehend the reasoning behind that to a point, since the “teen” rating over there starts at age 15 or 16. But this, I don’t understand — it’s not like they’re trying to redact content to make a particular rating or anything. And I don’t remember the prior trailer being censored.

Either way, the video is still pretty badass, although the bloody bits have been plastered over with a gaudy yellow “CENSORED” banner. The game’s protagonist, Jack — “just Jack” — is apparently getting his kill on for a chance at a TV show’s $100 million bounty, and really, isn’t that all the story anyone needs?

Be sure to check out the game’s official Web site for all kinds of goodies and information (including tidbits on the multiplayer “Blood Bath Challenges”).

Who else is as surprised as I’m to be this excited about a Wii game? Spring 2009 can’t get here fast enough. Oh, by the way, Sega also included a MadWorld-ized version of the classic Christmas poem “The Night Before Christmas” — you can check it out after the jump.

Strong Bad Ep. 5, Big Kahuna Party, Enduro Racer screenshot

Another Monday, another Wii Shop update, the first of which is Strong Bad Episode 5: 8-Bit Is Enough (Telltale Games, 1 player, 1,000 Wii Points). The title finds Trogdor having broken free from his videogame and wreaking havoc on the “real world.” The description should be enough to warrant you sliding your $10 over to Telltale, but it’s unfortunate that this will be the last in the Strong Bad series. I shed a tear, but look forward to seeing what it is they’ve on their plate next …

Massive Kahuna Party (Reflexive Entertainment Inc., 1-4 players, 700 Wii Points) joins the long list of parties on the Wii today. The title takes the popular match-three puzzle mechanic and adds a “tropical” theme, including shells and crabs and … other tropical things. 99 levels, four player cooperative and competitive modes, and matching things — sounds like a celebration to me.

This is one of those videos that, if you weren’t already told, you could kind of already guess that it was a WiiWare title. Yes, it’s another soon-to-be-forgotten classic from WiiWare’s library of unforgettable gems, Bruiser & Scratch. There’s a dog, a cat, some squares … this game has it all!

It’s Bruiser! It’s Scratch! It’s WiiWare! Only on Wii.

Love song, inspired by the movie “The Notebook”.
