Around the Destructoid office, the Wii and its motion controls are always a hot topic. We had a very lengthy discussion (read: argument) a few days back concerning the controls, with the topic centered around how hand movements seem to make what would be simple button presses more difficult.

Normally, I’m a proud member of the buttons over waggle group. I completely stood my ground during this discussion, but sometimes the Wii control scheme just makes sense. It absolutely does in this case.

I love a good casual fishing game, and Hudson’s Fishing Master World Tour fits the bill with its over-the-top Japanese presentation and flashy graphics that seem to make something as mundane as fishing seem exciting. Anyone who has played Sega’s arcade fishing offerings can tell you how much more fun it is to actually feel like you’re reeling a large one in. Sure, it’s not quite the same, but the Sega titles don’t have island-ish hip-hop and anime dogs jumping in the air when you’re catching swordfish out of the ocean.

This sequel to last year’s Fishing Master is coming in January of 2009. It will support four-person multiplayer, and now has leaderboards to show who reeled in the biggest catch.
