…and they’re prone to be Nintendo games and systems. You might have already heard, but Nintendo sold 2.04 million Wii consoles last month. That’s the record for most sold in November… ever.

As for the other two: Microsoft did pretty well, selling 836k units last month, a fair increase from the same month last year. Poor Sony didn’t show such great numbers, with their 378k down from last year’s 466k. If you ask me, things would have went well if they kept a $300 system on the market. To be positive, Sony reminds in a release that this number is 100% superior than October’s sales figures.

As for games, Gears of War 2 and Call of Duty: World at War were top sellers, and were probably Christmas gifts. The latter took spots 2, 6, and 7, on the Xbox, PS3 and Wii respectively. Not surprisingly, Nintendo’s standbys, like the Wii Play package, are rocking the pre-Christmas sales charts, as are Wii Fit and the Mario Kart and Wii Wheel bundle. Rounding out places 9 and 10 are Resistance 2 and Wii Music, just under Left 4 Dead.

Checking back with last month’s predictions, we were spot on about the top software, but absolutely wrong about the PS3. Can’t win them all.

Predictions for December: Nintendo games and hardware continue to sell well, filling stockings and boxes under the tree. Not to cop out, but I’d guess that the software charts will look very similar to this NPD’s ones, too.

I like the Mario Kart game because it is more challenging as you get to the next level.’-,
