Wii Shop releases: Maboshi’s Arcade, Cue Sports, Zoda’s RevengePosted by admin in Gaming News
Nintendo is ringing in the new year with — you guessed it — two WiiWare games and one Virtual Console title hitting the Wii Shop this day. Always keeping us on our toes! Maboshi’s Arcade (Nintendo, 1-3 players, 800 Wii Points) is a pinball-influenced puzzler that comes bundled with three flavors: Circle Mode, Stick Mode, and Square Mode. While the goal of each is to reach a million points, the three modes are played different. In Circle Mode, you’ll bash enemies; in Stick Mode, you’ll maneuver a stick up-screen; and in Square Mode you’ll burn through a maze. The 800 Wii Points price tag for what seems like such a “simple game” sounds a bit steep; fortunately, the game hit Europe and Japan months ago. If you’ve already picked this one up, let us know what you think.
The Wii has often been blamed for broken TV sets, but now it can be blamed for broken faces. A couple were arrested on Christmas Day, quite noticeably bruised, after they got into a physical fight over a Wii game. Fun for all the family! 24-year-old Heath Blom upset his girlfriend, 24-year-old Randi Young, by disparaging the good name of a Wii game he got for Christmas. It is alleged he was throwing a childish tantrum over not receiving a $1000 RC airplane instead. Blom denies wanting the plane before his birthday in April, claiming that “You can’t fly an RC plane in the snow.” However, Blom does admit to insulting the Wii game he was given by his grandparents instead, upsetting his grandmother and angering his girlfriend. After labeling her boyfriend an ingrate, Randi then called him further names “for not liking the Wii.” I know how Blom feels there, at least.

Super Smash Bros. Falcon Punches its way on to the Virtual Console in JapanPosted by admin in Gaming NewsYeah, you’ll learn the hard way, son. “Lucky” kids all over the world unwrapped their presents on Christmas Day and, according to an unhealthy amount of Youtube videos, went thoroughly insane. My prediction is that, by now, the waggle boxes are already sitting untouched on the floor. The above video, as spotted on Kotaku, is the thing that nightmares are made of. He screams like he’s being raped, murdered and losing a bet at the same time. And then comes the dancing … oh God the dancing. If you dare to watch, just be warned that it isn’t funny, not even in a “so bad it’s good” kind of way. It will just make you want to find the nearest physician and beg him for a cheap vasectomy. |
