2K Sports announces Don King Boxing for Wii and DS

You might remember last year’s Don King Presents: Prizefighter, an Xbox 360 boxing title from 2K Sports. Well actually, it’s more likely that you don’t remember it, since it was a lackluster and forgettable game. Anyway, the 360 version came out last June; the Wii and DS versions, last we heard, were due out in September. But it seems that 2K has decided to change things up.

On Thursday, they announced Don King Boxing, which will be released for the Wii and DS on March 31st. Unlike Prizefighter, which was developed by Venom Games, DKB is being developed by 2K China (no, we didn’t know 2K had a studio there, either). But the new studio is keeping one major feature that was previously announced for the Wii version: Balance Board support. And this time, it won’t just be for training. You’ll be able float like a butterfly over the Balance Board — that’s right, it can be used during fights for “ducking and dodging blows.”

And according to the press release (after the jump), Don King and his staff helped the devs put together a “Boxercise” feature in the game. It offers training exercises that real boxers partake in, so you can feel just like Rocky when you’re prepping for that next fight! King calls it “truly innovative and provocative,” so you know it’s good. The game features over 20 of today’s top fighters duking it out in real arenas like New York City’s Madison Square Garden.

The announcement trailer is above; six screenshots of the Wii version are in the gallery below, along with the box art for both versions. Check out the official Web site for Don King Boxing if you want more details.
