ESRB says Wii exclusive Cursed Mountain is coming to PC? screenshot

I’ve been keeping a close eye on Cursed Mountain since it was announced, but even more so after I got my hands on it at E3 — as you know if you read my coverage, I believe this game has the makings to be the horror game of the year if the story follows through as much as it seems.

Checking out the ESRB website recently, I noticed that their listing for the Wii exclusive title also states the game is coming to Personal computer. Destructoid contacted Deep Silver for comment and was told that “there are no plans to release a Computer version.”

Typo on the ESRB side, perhaps? I also recollect when we asked Atari about this same thing for Ghostbusters on the PSP, only to be told no and then see it pop up a few months later. You never know with the mysterious world of videogames…

Get out your masks: Slang announces Mexican wrestling game screenshot

A Mexican wrestling game, you say? It needed to happen. Newish publisher Slang has stepped up to take on the case, and states that AAA: El Videojuego will be out late this year or early next year. The Xbox 360 and PS3 versions will be developed by Immersion Software, while Sabarasa Studios will take on the Wii, PSP and DS versions.

Call me crazy, but for some reason when a game is coming out for every console imaginable, I get wary. Not sure why that’s. I want to think this game will be as awesome as a topless girl wearing a bling-studded luchadore mask, but that’s asking a lot. At any rate, as soon as we know more we’ll let you know.

Rumor: Netflix streaming on the Wii rears its head... again screenshot

Spotted by Joystiq, the survey recommends a “Netflix Instant Streaming” disc would be required to be in the console in order to stream the content; the disc would be free. Previous questionnaires have noted this disc as well, which would hint that this disc option (versus a new channel update, for instance) seems likely if Netflix does come to the Wii in some capacity.

Joystiq also notes that when the disc was mentioned in the past, it was being offered for $9.99. While the idea of throwing in a Netflix disc to stream content already has us raising our eyebrows, “free” would definitely ease that particular blow.

When contacted for comment, Nintendo wasn’t surprisingly silent; the company’s President and COO Reggie Fils-Aime recently said that if it were to do streaming on the Wii, it would do something “different.” Netflix on the other hand is all about it, “always looking for ways to expand its service,” but states “for now our game platform is the Xbox 360.”

I guess the real question is, do you really want Netflix on your Wii? Take our poll after the jump and let us know.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen trailer: Now with robots screenshot

Basically, this new trailer for evil Activision’s Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen gives me an excuse to post that denim-clad arse shot of Megan Fox from the film. That’s pretty much the only reason I have or need to present the video to you people. I’m probably not even going to watch the trailer. Too busy fapping.

Anyway, the vid’s after the jump if you want to look at robots shooting each other. I’m going to do a tiny shooting of my own, if you know what I mean.

So yeah, this is the official box art for Guitar Hero 5 screenshot

When Activision sent us an email containing the official, final box art for Guitar Hero 5, we didn’t anticipate that much. I decided, before I had seen the images, that I’d be the one to run the story.

“You know, it’s only box art,” I thought to myself, “so I’m there’s not much to state. But I’m sure it will be interesting enough for people to want to check it out. Maybe it’ll have some cool art. A dragon or a snake. Or a tiger! Maybe a snake-dragon-tiger-man with a guitar?”

Boy, was I wrong. I had a chance to see Guitar Hero 5 in action at E3, and I’ll admit that the game is looking tip-top. The visuals have been given an impressive new overhaul, the announced setlist is solid, and the new modes (particularly the new suite of multiplayer features) look pretty bad ass.

But I don’t know who got sick or went on maternity leave at Activision’s art/marketing department when they threw this one together, but… wow. It’s a box with a picture of a box on it. And they’ve decided to plaster the front of the box with some of the game’s artists and some new features. Just… no.

Of note is that the game will feature 85 songs by 83 artists, which means the game will be doubling up on tracks by single artists, kind of like they did with Tool in Guitar Hero: World Tour. So if you particularly dislike those bands, tough luck.

Hey, it’s only box art, though. I’m still pumped to play the game with some friends; I heard Tom Petty’s “Running Down a Dream” like 600 times at E3 — I’m ready to go!

Rumor: Rock Band Metal Track Pack is a very metal thing screenshot

French gaming Web site Success Full has gotten its hands on the achievements for the upcoming Rock Band Metal Track Pack, and… wait… what!? That hasn’t been announced yet!

The rumored achievements for the pack appear to indicate that another retail disc is on the way, along the lines of the upcoming Country Track Pack. These track packs generally feature music that has been released on the Rock Band Music Store, but the Country Track Pack has set a precedent by offering up a handful of music previously unreleased. If these achievements uncovered by the French are to be believed, the Metal Track pack will be offering the same.

Actor Shia La Beouf calls the Wii an 'amateur console' screenshot

Looks like actor Shia La Beouf has no idea what the phrase “wrath of a Nintendo fanboy” means. Kotaku reports that in a current interview with Massive Download, La Beouf (a self proclaimed gamer) had some snarky things to state about Nintendo’s little bundle of joy:

(BD) Have you checked out the Wii Transformers game?

(SL) I haven’t been able to play the Wii game because my hand is broken. I’ve just been playing Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. I would imagine that the Wii experience will be like…I don’t mess with the Wii, to be honest with you. It’s kind of an amateur console. I’m not into the Wii thing.

(BD)What’s wrong with the Wii?

(SL)This is how in a simple way you can find out if it’s a gamer you want to play with. Ask them if they’ve a Wii. If they state yes, get the f*** out of there.

Judgemental much, Le Beouf? He also mentions he passes up playing the Wii version of Lego Star Wars with Megan Fox because he’d rather “eat glass.” By the way, passing up doing anything with Megan Fox kind of makes YOU the loser, buddy.

Confirmed: Le Beouf is a next-gen fanboy!

Fan voting selects Kobe jersey-tugging shot for NBA 2K10 box screenshot

This year, 2K Sports named Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard Kobe Bryant as the cover athlete for NBA 2K10, but there was a wrinkle — they asked for fans to vote on one of four covers. America ignored Spike Lee’s vehement urging and selected an image of Bryant forcefully tugging on his jersey, which you can see above (the full-size shot is available in the gallery).

Bryant led the Lakers to yet another NBA championship last weekend; it was his fourth career title, and now, he’s finally got the “can’t do it without Shaq” monkey off his back. There certainly couldn’t have been a better time to put him on the cover of the game, especially since NBA 2K10 is the tenth anniversary of the best-selling basketball franchise.

NBA 2K10 will launch this fall on PS3, 360, Wii, PS2, PSP, and Computer.

The real reason we can't have nice things screenshot

I thought we had left all these plastic add-ons for Wii Sports in the past. Consumers had smartened up and we weren’t supposed to see them as much anymore. But it seems the opposite is true; consumers are just getting dumber. At least if CTA Digital’s newest accessory, the Wii Bowling Ball, sells well it will mean that. I mean you had to challenge yourself a bit to break your television with a Wii Remote, but picking up this blue ball of glass destroying power is simply asking to put a large crack in whatever you swing it at.

The way it works is simple, and yet surprisingly deadly. You place the Wii Remote inside the ball and then place your fingers inside the ball’s three holes, just like a real bowling ball. Then you bowl with it. Then you put a hole in your wall. Then you break your window. Then you accidentally bowl it into your Wii, putting an end to your one man wrecking ball action and possibly saving the world from the inevitable nuclear annihilation that would have somehow occurred.
